Channel: General ideas an needs in the field of additive manufacturing
With the novel fs laser, efficiently converted to UV pulses, according to our calculations, we could achieve very efficient 3D printing of copper and other metals with high thermal conductivity. In addition, we could achieve micron-scale precision and surface quality, without postprocessing. Using our laser, we would like to explore 3D printing of simple shapes and measure the quality and throughput.
So far, copper, silver and other high conductivity materials were difficult or impossible to 3D print. With this promising approach we could achieve this breakthrough and achieve micrometer scale precision in shapes and surface structure.
